Hopewell Borough Community Tree Decorating Contest
The Hopewell Borough Economic Development Committee, in partnership with the Sourland Conservancy is proud to announce our first COMMMUNITY TREE DECORATING CONTEST.
A total of 30 native red cedar trees were purchased by Hopewell Borough and the Sourland Conservancy. The trees will decorate Downtown Hopewell all winter long. In the spring, they will be planted nearby in the Sourland Woods by Sourland Conservancy volunteers.
We invite the community to help us DECORATE! Prizes will be donated by local merchants. Some specifics about the contest:
-
Registrations are accepted on a rolling basis until all 30 trees are decorated. Once all trees are claimed, registration will close.
-
ANY group may register – or even an individual. Register here.
-
Registrants will be ASSIGNED a tree location via email. We will do our best to accommodate location requests (no promises!).
-
Visit your tree often to keep it looking its best, especially after poor weather. If a heavy storm is expected, you may want to do some preventive maintenance and put away a few decorations until the storm passes.
-
Small white solar powered lights are provided. Pick up at dandelion wishes if they are not already on your assigned tree.
-
VOTING will begin on Small Business Saturday, November 25th, and will continue through Sunday, December 17th. Ballots may be competed at dandelion wishes, Aunt Chubby's Seeds to Sew/Wull & Oak, or the Hopewell Public Library. There will be no on-line voting available. Visiting Downtown Hopewell is part of the fun!
-
NO GLASS DECORATIONS permitted.
-
Celebration of a wide range of interests, faiths and cultures is appreciated and encouraged! Decorations do not need to be specific to any holiday. Be creative!
